David J. Rothman, Ph.D., and David H. Strauss, M.D., of the New York State Psychiatric Institute co-directed this course on clinical research ethics through a grant from the NIH. The program was designed for Clinical Investigators and Institutional Review Board Members involved in research with human subjects and its oversight. The day-long course familiarized investigators with the principles underlying ethically sound research and enhances knowledge of their practical applications in the clinical setting. Course participants acquired knowledge about the ethics of human experimentation in an historical, legal, and regulatory context.
